Financing – a path to increased sales
1980
Televerket seeks permission of the Swedish parliament to establish its own finance company. With the main argument being that it would lead to increased sales.
1981
The Swedish parliament rejects Televerkets’ application.
1982
Televerket assures the Swedish parliament that the company they have in mind solely would work with Televerket's own investments. The proposal is approved despite certain misgivings among politicians. Televerket enlists the assistance of Merkantil Leasing and established Telefinans.
1982–1984
The business is gradually expanded. For example, Telefinans is able to finance all equipment delivered by Televerket.
